Faro Labs / About

Faro Labs exists so individual investors can underwrite a rental as carefully as the pros, in the time it takes to read a listing.

We give investors better inputs, deterministic math on real, cited data, not automated decisions. You stay in the driver's seat; we just make the numbers you drive on trustworthy.

Why we built it

Underwriting a rental shouldn't take six tabs and a spreadsheet

Buying a rental well means answering a dozen questions at once. What the property is really worth, what it will rent for, what it costs to run, and what's left after the mortgage. The data exists, but it's scattered across comps apps, county assessor sites, Street View, and a spreadsheet you rebuild from scratch for every single listing.

The pros have teams and tools for this. Everyone else does it by hand, late at night, and hopes they didn't miss anything. We thought individual investors deserved the same rigor: without the six tabs.

The team

Built by investors who did it the hard way

Kevin, founder of Faro Labs

Kevin

Co-founder

I've spent years as a software engineer at Adobe, working on web products used by hundreds of millions of people a month. That work taught me something that applies directly here: the difference between a product people tolerate and one they trust is almost always in the details.

I'm also a California investor who buys rental properties out of state, in Michigan. I closed two of them the hard way: underwriting a few hundred listings by hand across a six-month search. Six tabs open, Street View walks down blocks I'd never stood on, county assessor sites, four different apps for comps, then rebuilding the operating expenses and cash-on-cash in a spreadsheet for every single one. Faro is the tool I wished I'd had.

Ernest, go-to-market lead at Faro Labs

Ernest

Co-founder

I'm Ernest. With nearly a decade of experience in go-to-market, the last three in AI, I've focused on bringing automation to mission-critical operations across healthcare, mortgage lending, and logistics. Automating the manual work in environments where getting it wrong is expensive.

What I learned across all of them is that people don't hand over judgment to a tool just because it's faster; they hand it over when they can see the work behind the answer. That's the bar we're building Faro against: show the inputs, show the assumptions, and let the investor make the call.

Our standard

Deterministic math, cited sources

Faro Labs is that process, done properly. The math is deterministic and the sources are cited, because when a number is going to inform a six-figure decision, you should be able to see where it came from.
